Creative Communities Fund - Deadline Dec. 17, 2009
(November 30, 2009)

The Cultural Development Corporation, Washington DC, seeks DC area applicants for their Creative Communities Fund (CCF) grants to artists participating in the Source Festival, Flashpoint Gallery and the Mead Theatre Lab Program, to support the creation and presentation of new works (including music, new media) and to encourage artists to actively engage community residents through exciting and innovative programming in the DC area. Click on green link for more information. All CCF applications are due by Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 5 pm. Late applications will not be accepted.


Composer Residency - 21st Century Music for the People

The American Composers Forum San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (ACF-BAC) seeks two Northern Californian composers for its 21st Century Music for the People composer residency opportunity in collaboration with San Francisco's Community Music Center. Deadline for applications is August 30, 2008.

Northern California Composers Commissioning Program
(August 1, 2008)

The American Composers Forum, San Francisco Bay Area Chapter, is pleased to announce the second Northern California Composers Commissioning Program (NCCCP) for 2008. Performers (individuals or ensembles) and presenters are invited to apply for grants from $5000 to $7500 on behalf of themselves and composers with whom they wish to collaborate. Awards will be shared, as described below, between applicants and composers. Application deadline is October 15, 2008.

Berkeley Symphony
(May 29, 2008)

The Berkeley Symphony seeks short orchestral scores from emerging composers living in the greater San Francisco Bay Area for their "Under Construction " reading series. Three Bay Area emerging composers will have their works read by the orchestra in October, November, and December of 2008. Deadline is June 2, 2008!

Composers invited for 2007 Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute

We are delighted to announce the results of the judging panel for the 2007-08 Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute. The seven participants were selected from among 166 works submitted from 36 states, and the exceptional quality of the music and high level of orchestral writing made the final choices very difficult to make. There is enough fine music here for many, many concerts!

Community Partners 2007

Our Community Partners program has re-opened for 2007, and will begin accepting applications on February 1.
The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of American Composers Forum is seeking proposals from composers, performers, and/or ensembles for projects that foster the creation and performance of new music in the context of community engagement. Project proposals will be considered on an ongoing basis, as funding permits, until June 30, 2007.

2006 Welcome Christmas! Carol Contest Winners Announced

Two composers, Diego Luzuriaga and John Rommereim, have been selected as the winners of the Ninth Annual Welcome Christmas! Carol Contest, co-sponsored by the Forum and the Minneapolis-based VocalEssence ensemble.

ACF Annual Meeting for 2006
(September 1, 2006)

You're invited to attend the Forum's Annual Meeting, scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Huss MusicRoom.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m., last approximately one hour, and will include musical performances. A reception and refreshments will follow the meeting, and all ACF members are welcome to attend as their schedules permit.

The Huss Music Room is located on the third floor of the historic Hamm Building, 408 Saint Peter Street, in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.

Call for CITS Teachers - 2006/2007

The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of American Composers Forum (ACF-SFBAC) seeks a qualified Northern California composer to teach high school students in its Composer in the Schools (CITS) after-school program. Classes will held for 2 hours one day each week at Lowell High School in San Francisco and will begin in mid- to late October, 2006.

Composers Chosen to Participate in Institute Reading Sessions with the Minnesota Orchestra

The winners of this year’s Minnesota Orchestra Reading Sessions and Composer Institute have been selected from a total of 112 entries from 26 states.The seven composers selected are Philip Fried (Saint Paul, Minn.); Michael Gatonska (East Hartford, Conn.); Gregory Hutter (Chicago, lll.); Mark Koval (Los Angeles, Calif.); Robert Paterson (New York, N.Y.); Eric Samuelson (New York, N.Y.); and William A. Ware (New York, N.Y.).

John Adams Young Composers Program Concert

On February 24, the Crowden Music Center will present an evening of world premieres from the faculty of the John Adams Young Composers Program performed by the Ariel String Quartet. This free concert, supported in part by a grant from the ACF's Bay Area Chapter, will feature new music by Alexis Alrich, Molly Axtman, Alan Crossman, Arkadi Serper, Clark Suprynowicz, and Katy Wreede.

2008 JEROME COMPOSERS COMMISSIONING PROGRAM AWARDS ANNOUNCED

The American Composers Forum is pleased to announce the Jerome Composers Commissioning Program (JCCP) recipients for 2008. Awards this year ranged from $1500 to $8,000. A total of 19 projects were funded from a pool of $90,000.
